In this Catalyst Session, she will explain why yesterday’s competitive tactics don’t work anymore and why every business must reinvent itself as an “Alpha Dog.” She tells stories from the entrepreneurial trenches, imparting lessons learned by a variety of small businesses, and explains how companies such as these beat the odds and their competition to became marketplace leaders. You will learn eight success strategies: innovation, customer service, branding, employee engagement, alliances, use of technology, community connections, and reinvention, to illustrate how you and your store can become a leader of the pack.

Kimaka Willis is an accomplished speaker, professional coach, and author. She blends authenticity and integrity with humor and excitement to deliver a message that will motivate you to redefine how you approach your search for talent. The emphasis on hiring and retention has created a frenzy for finding academically and technically talented people. While intellectual talent may be enough to get employees through the door, it is neither enough to sustain their continued growth for the duration of their career, nor the sole reason they were hired in the first place. Employees must understand that they bring more to the table than their intellectual property. As they recognize their worth and the unique qualities that they bring to the organization, they can begin to make more meaningful contributions to the organization.

Willis has graciously donated a limited quantity of her latest book for session participants. She will hold a book signing following her Catalyst Session and follow-on Discussion Forum.
